ELECTRICIAN

ROLE SUMMARY

 Donwyk Labs is recruiting an Electrician who will be responsible for the following: 

• Responsible for electrical reticulation of the facility

• Installation and completion of electrical projects

• Repair, maintenance, installation and control of electrical machinery and equipment, including transformers, generators, distribution boards, UPS, nurse-call systems and all other relevant systems as required 

• Repair and maintenance of basic and industrial “household appliances” such as ovens, microwave ovens, toasters, kettles, and water boilers as well as any other similar electrical equipment

• Inspection, fault finding and problem resolution of electrical wiring and appliances

• Routine maintenance on plant and machinery, as stipulated by servicing schedules of the equipment, and / or as requested by the Manager

• Preventative maintenance planning and implementation, according to Company Policies and Procedures, as determined from time to time

• Reporting on the condition and functionality of the electrical plant machinery, including general electrical reticulation, standby generator performance 

• Cost control through proper preventative maintenance and fast and effective response to breakdowns

• Conduct safety inspections on all portable electrical equipment according to specifications

• To carry out all preventative, Planned and reactive maintenance requirements and contribute to a comprehensive and effective facilities management structure thus ensuring optimum consistency and compliance of all essential equipment with minimum disruption to key areas of the hospital.

• To carry out all administered checklists to the best of your ability and ensure that all the main components of the equipment are working as per manufacturer design specifications.

• To ensure that all policies and procedures of the hospital facility which impacts directly or indirectly to the role of electrician are fully understood.

• To ensure that all aspects of the health and safety program required of the hospital facility is carried out with accuracy and accountability.

SKILLS PROFILE EDUCATION

• Matriculated (Grade 12)

• NQF4 Trade test (Electrical) 

• Registration as an installation electrician in terms of regulation 11 (2).

• Wireman’s license would be advantageous

WORK EXPERIENCE 

• At least 3 years’ experience on electrical / electronic installation / maintenance

• Electrical and Mechanical experience in a commercial industry.

• Ability to function unsupervised

• Customer oriented with good interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change with good planning and organisational skills

• Ability to problem solve

• Team working and Approachable 

• Ability to travel independently due to 24-hour functionality of the Hospital environment

KNOWLEDGE

• Computer literacy is an advantage

• SAP Knowledge advantageous 

• Competent in the field of electrical building services 

• Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements  

• Electrical drawing interpretation
